Several charged with sexually abusing children

An Aberdeen man is facing sex abuse charges in connection with abusing four children under the age of 18.

James Willie Pittman, 41, of the first block of Gunnison Drive, in Aberdeen, was charged July 6 with four counts each of sexual abuse of a minor, third-degree sex offense and second-degree assault.

On a number of occasions, Pittman allegedly touched four girls, all under the age of 18, in inappropriate ways, according to charging documents.

One girl said the incidents took place when she was 7 and another said the incidents took place when she was 6, according to charging documents.

On May 22, one of the girls said she didn't want to go to Pittman's house, and when her mother asked why, the girl said he allegedly touched her.

In separate, recorded interviews all four girls told an investigator with the Harford County Child Advocacy Center that Pittman allegedly touched them inappropriately, according to charging documents.

At Pittman's bail review hearing in Harford County District Court Thursday, Assistant Public Defender Brian Cunningham said Pittman has eight kids, one grandchild, works two jobs and has lived in Harford County for 40 years.

Pittman asked for reasonable bail so he could return to his children.

Several other men were charged in similar, although unrelated cases, in recent weeks.

A 4-year-old girl said Flynn, whom she knows, allegedly touched her inappropriately and had her conduct sexual acts on him while in a hot tub, according to charging documents.

The girl's brother, 7, said he was allegedly forced to touch Flynn inappropriately and the boy said he also saw Flynn engaging in inappropriate activity with the girl.

Abingdon man charged

Michael L. Howard, 57, of the 500 block of Eastview Terrace in Abingdon, was charged July 29 with sex abuse of a minor, fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault.

Howard allegedly inappropriately touched a 16-year-old girl he knows and had her perform sexual acts on him, according to charging documents.

Churchville man charged

John Michael Riley Sr., 39, of the 3000 block of Churchville Road, was charged June 27 with attempted second-degree sex offense, third-degree sex offense and sex abuse of a minor.

Riley allegedly molested a girl, now age 15, when she was 8 or 9 years old, according to charging documents. The girl is someone he knows.

The girl told her friend about the alleged incidents and her friend told her parents, who contacted the girl's father. The girl's father talked to her then reported the incident to Havre de Grace police.
