Harford's Restaurant week extended through June 26

Harford County Restaurant Week was due to end Wednesday, but the county's Office of Tourism announced the event has been extended through June 26.

County officials said participating restaurant operators asked for the extension, citing its popularity this year.

"With repeated requests from restaurants to extend the promotion we decided to go for it!" Wini Roche, the county's tourism manager said in a press release. Roche also coordinates the Restaurant Week promotion.

Known as "the most delicious week of the year!" Roche said, Restaurant Week has been successful in the first week.

Roche said can continue to visit http://www.harfordmd.com to find details about restaurants offering the extension since not all of the restaurants are extending their promotion and some restrictions may apply.

Participating restaurants throughout Harford County are offering prix fixe, or price fixed, menus consisting of three course meals for $20.11 (or less), plus tax, beverage and gratuity, according to the county.

Limited service restaurants or restaurants with a lower price point are offering other special values, according to the county.

People who take advantage of the Restaurant Week deals are also eligible to win $1,000 worth of dining at one of the participating restaurants.

To enter, they must fill a dining card entry form at a participating restaurant and should ask for one if the restaurant staff does not present it.

The restaurants collect the entry cards and return them to the Office of Tourism where they are all combined for the grand prize drawing. A random drawing of all the cards will pick the winner of the $1,000 of dining at the end of the month. Each of the participating restaurants donates a dining gift card for the grand prize to participate in the Restaurant Week promotion.

More than 40 restaurants participated during last year's June event. Most participating restaurants experienced an increase of 10 to15 percent in their dining customers during that week, according to the Office of Tourism, and

thousands of entry cards were submitted for Restaurant Week's grand prize drawing of $1,000 of dining gift cards.
