Last weekend the 12th annual Upper Chesapeake Hospice Regatta was held on the shores of the Susquehanna in Havre de Grace. Thanks to contributors and volunteers over $75,000 was raised!!
With the support of Mayor Wayne Dougherty and the involvement of Brigitte Peters of the Department of Tourism, HdG threw out the welcome mat in grand style to over 800 visitors!!
Guests entered through a magnificent arch designed by Billee Smith of Distinctive Décor and decorated by Stephen Formwalt of Simply Grand Events.
Bill Watson of Elementary Designs by Watson created directional signage to the places of interest in HdG. Shore partygoers were drawn to the silent auction enhanced by the grand floral displays that were also created by Stephen….live fish included!!
Melanie's Design beautified the sponsors' tent with centerpieces adorned with butterflies... the symbol of hospice.
Janine Goodin, managing editor of the "Life at the Rock" magazine, tirelessly pursued local merchants for silent auction donations. The generosity of the town contributed to the almost 100 items offered for bid! Pat Fair rallied the Arts Community and Allen Fair auctioneered.
Beth Fitzgerald and her company, The Mosquito Squad, made even a "bug free" evening possible!
The Senator Bob Hooper House provides a place of peace and serenity for those in the final stages of life. No one is denied care due to the inability to pay, and the regatta is the largest fundraising event of the year to make this possible. The kindness and generosity of the mayor and the entire city of Havre de Grace was overwhelming, and the gift it has given to hospice residents is priceless.
As a member of the Senator Bob Hooper House Board, I am so thankful to my hometown for their support and generosity. Havre de Grace, you truly are a gem!!
