One boy arrested, one injured in fight near Havre de Grace school

A Havre de Grace teenage boy was arrested and another was taken to Harford Memorial Hospital after a fight near Havre de Grace Middle School Monday afternoon.

Officer Jeff Gilpin, spokesman for the Havre de Grace Police Department, said officers were dispatched at about 3:11 p.m. to Lewis Lane and Revolution Street for a fight between two 13-year-old boys.

"There was a bunch of witnesses in the area," Gilpin said of the fight.

Assault charges are pending against one of the boys, he said. The other was taken to the hospital with minor bruising injuries.

Gilpin said both boys are students at the school. Harford County Public Schools Communications Director Teri Kranefeld wrote in an e-mail that it was her understanding the fight did not take place on school property.
