Erika Quesenbery, who resigned from her position as Port Deposit town administrator earlier in the week, was announced Saturday as the new manager of Havre de Grace Main Street, Inc., a publicly supported business development group.
The selection committee, along with the president and vice president of Havre de Grace Main Street, made the final, unanimous decision to offer the position to Quesenbery Saturday, according to a release from the organization.
Quesenbery accepted and the selection was announced Saturday afternoon.
Quesenbery resigned from her position as Port Deposit Town Administrator Thursday after five months in on the job. She has long been involved with the town of Port Deposit and has written a number of books about it's history and has been active in the town's museum and historic preservation efforts.
An article about her resignation published in the Cecil Whig Friday stated that Quesenbery was taking an unnamed position she believes is more suitable for her.
She's also leaving the town government less than two months after a new mayor, Wayne Tome, was elected in May, replacing Kerry Anne Abrams who hired Quesenbery. Quesenbery's salary with Port Deposit was $52,000 a year.
Before serving as town administrator, Quesenbery served as marketing director for the Cecil County Office of Economic Development. She grew up in Harford County.
She will begin her new position July 18.
The hiring of Quesenbery comes about three months after the group's board fired the previous manager, Diana Broomell, in April, touching off a well publicized battle within the membership.
At the time, the group's executive committee cited unspecified "conflicts" between Broomell's part-time post at Main St. and her part-time position as a Cecil County Commissioner, to which she was just elected last November. Broomell had been with Main St. three years.
Saturday's announcement of Quesenbery's hiring did not provide any details about her salary or whether she will be a fulltime employee. She could not be reached for comment.
