Harford County employee requests personnel board public hearing

A Harford County employee has requested a public hearing before the county's Personnel Advisory Board.

Janet Schaub, deputy director of the human resources department, would not provide more information on the situation before the hearing.

Requested by employee Jennifer Lewis, the hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Dec. 20 in the conference room of the county government building at 212 S. Main St.

"It is a personnel matter and the employee requested a public hearing," Schaub said.

Jennifer Lewis was not listed in the county's online employee directory.

She had at one time been with Harford Transit and the highways division, but employees there said she was no longer employed.

The Personnel Advisory Board is a three-member, citizen board that hears and decides appeals of grievances and other personnel decisions involving county government employees. The board was established in the county charter adopted in 1972.

According to the county code, an employee who requests a board hearing can also request that the hearing be open or closed to the public.
