Local Professional Association Presents Grant to HCPS STEM Educators

The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association-Aberdeen, Maryland Chapter, has announced it has made its first monetary award for their new STEM Initiative.

Aberdeen's initiative is a twist on the traditional acronym for STEM. STEM stands for Scholarships, Tools, Equipment, and Mentors. The grants are open to Harford County Public School educators and staff working directly in a STEM Education. Awards can be used for HCPS educators to pursue continuing education in their STEM field, for tools students can use in the classroom, or for equipment needed to help enhance the education of STEM courses for students. The awards are presented and each recipient and their school has the opportunity to be assigned a mentor for the AFCEA Aberdeen community to provide expertise and experience about real world applications of science, technology, engineering, and math in their business and careers.

The science teachers in Roland's team will receive a microscope each for their classroom for lessons and labs and individualized student instruction.
