Isolated power outage strikes Bel Air

Lights flickered, flashed and went dark in parts of Bel Air Thursday evening.

Around 5:30 p.m. power went out in at least one building on North Main Street and a traffic light at East Broadway and Hickory Avenue was rendered inoperable.

A customer service representative with BGE said the power would likely return by 7 p.m. During that period, the outage map on BGE's website spiked from four customers without power to about 1,700 in the Harford County area without power largely in Bel Air.

By 6:40 p.m. power had returned, but it was unclear what caused the outage.
