Teenager on bicycle injured by vehicle north of Bel Air

A 16-year-old boy on a bicycle was injured by a motor vehicle Friday afternoon near the intersection of Lochary and Forge Hill roads about five miles northeast of Bel Air, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff's office Public Information Officer Monica Worrell said the boy was riding a bicycle and appears to have run into the vehicle around 3 p.m.

She did not know to which hospital the boy was taken, but he was transported by ambulance.

His injuries were described by deputies at the scene as "not dangerous, but there is serious bleeding," Worrell said about an hour after the accident.

Further details were not available. Worrell said she expected to have the investigating deputies' preliminary report by early Friday evening.

The neighborhood where the accident occurred is about a mile from Palmer State Park and Deer Creek. Though the area is considered rural, with a number of farms and woodlands, there are also many single family homes on large properties.
