Well another year has passed. Although there has a lot of problems we can still look back and find some great memories. If you are like me, many of the good things happened outdoors.

While fishing with my Grandson he caught the biggest bass (nearly 10 pounds) while we fished a local pond. The big fish was carefully released and, hopefully, will be bigger come next summer. Of course, it is always great fun to take the Grandchildren fishing.

I really enjoy riding the back roads of Harford County. I see many different species of wildlife from squirrels to wild turkeys. As I pass by many of our creeks and streams, it is fun to watch the beaver and otters.

There is so much more to our county than shopping centers. A trip to the area around Conowingo Dam will usually provide you with sightings of many eagles. Don't just drive by, stop and enjoy beauty of nature.

A lot of folks think that hunters and fishermen only care about taking game animals and catching fish. Yes, we enjoy hunting and fishing, but all of nature is important to us. We are the ones who started the groups that work to help all nature. Don't be fooled by the so-called animal lovers groups that spend most of their money on pay checks.

If you are going to make plans for the New Year include spending some time outdoors. You don't have to hunt or fish, just open your eyes and ears.

There will be the annual Turkey Shoot at Delta Peach Bottom Fish and Game on Jan. 1. Sign up will start at 9 a.m. shooting with 12 gauge shotguns only.
