An Abingdon man was charged Wednesday with attempted arson after allegedly throwing two Molotov cocktails at another Abingdon home in April.
Around 11:45 p.m. April 25, someone threw two Molotov cocktails in the front yard of a home in the 2900 block of Shelley Court in Abingdon, according to a release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.
The fire marshal's office, Harford County Sheriff's Office and Bel Air Police Department launched a joint investigation which led them to develop Andrew Michael Dejuliis Jr. as a suspect, according to the release.
Police say evidence indicates Dejuliis, 25, of the 200 block of Haynes Court, was allegedly responsible for making and throwing the two Molotov cocktails at the two story townhouse owned by Kathy Keyser, according to the release.
No one was injured during the incident.
At Dejuliis' bail review hearing Thursday in Harford County District Court, Assistant State's Attorney Chris Smith said Dejuliis allegedly accused his brother of stealing $400 and threatened him. His brother lives in the townhouse on Shelley Court.
According to Smith, Dejuliis allegedly told his brother, "if all the kids were not outside he would burn the house down with a Molotov cocktail."
Smith said Dejuliis allegedly told his brother he had two such devices already prepared.
Smith argued Dejuliis poses a serious danger to the community and recommended significant bail or revoking Dejuliis' bail entirely.
District Court Judge Victor Butanis reduced Dejuliis' bail from $500,000 to $300,000.
Dejuliis turned himself it at the Harford County Detention Center Wednesday evening. He is charged with threat of arson, attempted first-degree arson, reckless endangerment and manufacturing and possessing or distributing a destructive device.
While his court papers indicate he has an Abingdon address, Dejuliis told the court Thursday he is homeless.
