Holiday Happenings

Editor,

On Dec. 14, Girl Scout Troops 2055/2510 decorated 2 trees at the Liriodendron in preparation for their Holiday Happenings Event that was held on Dec. 16-18. The girls spent 3 of their fall meetings making decorations for their "Old Time" themed tree. They made kites, dominoes, origami tea cups, pinwheels, clothespin dolls, peanuts on a string, ball & cup ornaments, popcorn garland and strings of cranberries. The second tree was decorated in a Patriotic theme. Our troop has been visiting the Veterans at the VA Hospital in Perryville three times a year for the last 5 years. At our November visit the Vets helped us to decoupage clear Christmas balls in red and blue. These along with chenille candy canes and red and blue paper stars the girls made were hung on the tree with white lights. The Vets were very excited that they were contributing to this community event. The girls pictured in front of the Victorian tree are: Caitlin Phillips, Samantha Koski, Leah Monaghan, Kay Rinkers, Katie Morgan & Genevieve Simmons along with leaders Mary Morgan on left and Rene Monaghan on right. Those pictured with the patriotic tree are Genevieve Simmons, Samantha Koski, Leah Monaghan, Katie Morgan, Caitlin Phillips, Kay Rinkers. Flanked by Leaders Rene Monaghan, left and Mary Morgan, right. The girls that also helped to make the ornaments were: Rebekah Bateman, Chrysta Draayer, Catie Fell, McKayla Grasham, Megan Harman, Elaine Jansing-Kaestner, Shianne Krause, Hannah Martin and Autumn Morrison.
