Editor:
A huge thank you to Marissa Gallo for her prompt account of the Joppa/Joppatowne Community Council meeting of Feb. 6, at Joppatowne High School: "Joppa ready to take on county council at March meeting."
One major correction: David Craig, county executive, has not answered any of our questions. If she had added exclamation points to some of her statements, you would have felt the ire of the residents of Joppa and Joppatowne who, for two months in a row, have waited for representatives from his office to explain the waste transfer station debacle!
Joppa/Joppatowne Community Council Chairperson Paula Mullis has promises from County Executive David Craig's office that a representative will be present to answer questions from very concerned citizens at the next meeting Monday, March 5 at 7 p.m.
We are talking about your tax money and how it will be used to transfer your waste out of Harford County. The incinerator located within the Edgewood Area of APG is likely to go off-line in 2016. Residents had hoped to use that site for Harford's waste disposal.
The much-discussed Route 7 site (formerly Plecker's Golf World) is not acceptable for many reasons. We own it, and now what do we do with it? What do we do with the waste transfer issue? These and other pertinent questions are awaiting answers.
The importance of the next meeting cannot and must not be underestimated. The Joppa/Joppatowne Community Council strongly encourages all residents of Harford County to attend the meeting to be held at the Joppatowne High School. Especially, we are encouraging residents from Fallston to Havre de Grace and everywhere in between: Edgewood, Bush River, Abingdon, Belcamp, Perryman and Aberdeen and subdivisions of these areas. Mark your calendars; see you there!
