The editorial "The founders" (July 4) describes the great accomplishments of our Founding Fathers in establishing the United States of America. The founders believed in the principles of smaller government, fiscal responsibility and a non-interventionist foreign policy. Unfortunately, our leaders today from both political parties violate all of these sound ideas.
The Democrats waste our money on welfare, unions and minorities, running yearly $1.5 trillion budget deficits. The Republicans waste our money on foreign wars and pandering to Israel and the powerful pro-Israel lobby, which is always demanding more billions from American taxpayers. The only presidential candidate who followed the wise advice of our founders was Ron Paul, a true conservative, while the others had no solutions for our nation's serious problems.
Both political parties are incompetent and corrupt. No matter who wins the election in November, things will not improve for the American people, giving us continued unsustainable deficits under Obama or a disastrous war in Iran for Israel under Romney.
