Solid Waste Transfer Station in Joppa Community

Editor:

The members of the Joppa/Joppatowne Community Council would like our neighbors to be aware of the County's proposal to build a solid waste transfer station in our community.

The facility would receive recyclables, trash, white goods, electronics and yard waste. The community council is deeply concerned about having such a facility in our neighborhood. This will have an impact on the community for many years. The Joppa/Joppatowne Community Council would like our elected officials to meet with the community to share how this will affect the lives of our citizens.

We are asking county officials and our elected officials to come to the Joppa/Joppatowne Council meeting on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at Joppatowne High School to discuss this matter with us. We need to get more information and learn how this solid waste transfer station will affect our lives.

Community members are urged to come out to the meeting and voice their opinions. The Joppa/Joppatowne Community Council members hope to see you there. This will be an extremely important meeting for Harford County citizens.
