Political Correctness is Alive and Well in Forest Hill

Editor:

I was driving along Osborne Parkway in Forest Hill the other morning and humming along with a Christmas carol that was playing on a CD that I had gotten last Christmas. As I approached Forest Lakes Elementary School, I noticed a sign out in front that shook me out of my Christmas daydream and right into the realm of political correctness.

There for all Forest Hillians to see was the announcement that Forest Lakes Elementary would be closed for "Winter Holiday" from Dec. 26 until 30. Not the "Christmas Holidays" you understand, but the winter ones. It saddened me to see this pronouncement because in my day we all looked forward to the Christmas holidays with eager anticipation.

I cannot imagine that the winter holidays are nearly as much fun. Whatever happened to the backbones of the people in charge of the Harford County school system? By pleasing the few, you are outraging the many. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
