A Bel Air man was charged with first-degree assault after a fight allegedly involving a knife at a local bar earlier this month.
Harford sheriff's deputies responded to Looney's Pub in the 300 block of South Main Street in Bel Air on Jan. 8 at approximately 2:18 a.m. for a report of a man with a knife, according to charging documents. At the time, Michael D. Ciemny was being restrained by other officers and a folding knife was found in his front right pocket.
Ciemny, 22, of the first block of Lake Drive, was charged Jan. 8 with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and having a dangerous weapon with intent to injure. In the incident, according to charging documents, Ciemny got into a fight with one man and once outside of the bar, allegedly held a knife up to another man's throat.
During a bail review hearing on Jan. 8, Harford County District Court Judge John L. Dunnigan lowered Ciemny's bail from $150,000 to $25,000, after Ciemny's attorney pointed out that no one ended up hurt in the incident other than Ciemny, who spent some time in the hospital.
Ciemny was released on a bond that day.
