Those who live in Harford County without homes will once again be remembered this year during the fifth annual Homeless Persons Memorial Day.
The event will feature a vigil taking place at 5 p.m. on Dec. 21 at Bel Air Methodist Church at 21 Linwood Ave.
It is being sponsored by the Sharing Hope Foundation and the Harford County Health Department to remember those who may have died alone this year.
The public is welcome to gather in the parking lot, with a reminder to dress warmly, as part of the service will be outdoors.
The event honors those who died during the past year, as well as shines a light on the plight of homelessness around the county.
Last year, when the event was held at Festival Park in Aberdeen, organizers noted four people specifically who died while homeless. Community leaders who work closely with the homeless said they had to turn away hundreds of requests for assistance in 2010.
