Shelby Key, a freshman point guard for the Harford Community College women's basketball team, had a triple-double in a non-conference Fighting Owls victory Monday night. Key scored 10 points, handed out 12 assists and nabbed a career-high 13 rebounds to lead the 83-23 romp over visiting Delaware County.
Key's remarkable effort also included a career-high eight steals. The triple-double came one contest after she set a career-high with 17 assists in a win over Anne Arundel.
Key's effort marked the third triple-double in program history. Last season, Tiffany Taylor had 31 points, 18 rebounds and 10 steals in a win over Anne Arundel. In 2008, Sarah Spalt had 28 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists with seven steals in a win over Philadelphia.
Key and the rest of the Fighting Owls are back in action at home, which is the old Aberdeen High School gym while HCC's new arena is being built, on Wednesday in a clash with Frederick at 6:15 p.m.
