Girls volleyball: C. Milton Wright, Fallston advance

Fallston moved a step closer to a return to the Final Four of the girls volleyball state tournament with a 3-0 win over visiting North East in a Class 2A East, District VII section final Wednesday night.

C. Milton Wright also advanced Wednesday. Bel Air did not.

The scores of the Fallston match were 25-11, 25-18 and 25-16.

Senior Rachael Holehouse led the attack with 13 kills and seven aces, while Abby Claborn had 14 assists. Anna Holehouse led the defense with 17 digs.

Fallston will play for the region title Saturday at 1 p.m. The opponent will be Parkside or North Caroline, the District VIII champion.


The top-seeded C. MIlton Wright girls volleyball team moved on to the Class 3A North Region final Wednesday with a 3-0 sweep of visiting City College. The scores were 25-20, 25-21 and 25-17.

Mustangs sophomore Tori Smith led the way with seven kills and four aces and Jessica Lucas added six kills. Megan Badovinac added seven aces, while Jenna Buettner had 10 digs and Kelsey Marzola dished out 18 assists.

The Mustangs (16-4) will host second seed Towson on Friday at 4 p.m. for the region title.

BEL AIR loses to Towson

Towson advanced to Friday's final by beating visiting Bel Air (12-6) in three games. The scores were 25-14, 25-17 and 25-14.

Celeste Roland had seven kills, three aces and five digs in the losing effort and Jackie Deluise added six kills and one block. Alex Williams finished with five kills, two aces and one block, while Amanda Rodriguez added two kills, 15 assists and one ace. Tia Williams contributed two kills and two aces.

Bel Air finishes the season with a 12-6 record.

"I'm really proud of the dedication and hard work these girls have given throughout the season.," Bobcats head coach Tim Markland said.


Perryville won the 1A East Region, District VII section final, edging visiting Bo Manor, 3-2. The scores were 25-18, 21-25, 21-25, 26-24 and 15-11.

Ange Thompson led the way with 18 service points, three aces, five kills, five assists and two perfect passes. Sam Kreiner added 21 service points, four aces, five kills, nine digs and nine perfect passes. Nori Elliott chipped in with 19 service points, six aces, 12 assists and five perfect passes.

The Panthers will host the region title match Friday or Saturday at a time to be announced. The opponent will be District VIII champion, Snow Hill or Colonel Richardson.
