Girls volleyball: CMW, Fallston close in on division championships

The C. Milton Wright girls volleyball team inched ever closer to the UCBAC Susquehanna Division title Tuesday evening with a 3-1 win over North Harford. The Mustangs (11-0, 11-1) won by scores of 25-12, 29-27, 28-30 and 25-12.

CMW senior middle hitter Megan Badovinac led the Mustangs with eight kills. Also contributing were Kelsey Marzola with 23 assists, Jessica Lucas with six kills and seven digs, Tori Smith with six kills and four digs and Jenna Buettner with 13 digs.

North Harford (7-4, 7-4) was led by Emily Cunningham's four aces and 10 kills and Morgan Knox's eight kills. Nicole Racine and Maggie Whittington added three aces each.

COUGARS roll over TIGERS

In Chesapeake play, division leading Fallston (10-0, 11-1) rolled over host Rising Sun in three sets Tuesday night, winning 25-16, 25-12 and 25-18. Rachael Holehouse led the attack with nine kills and nine points scored on her serve. Abby Claborn contributed 11 points on her serve, 15 assists and four kills and Kristina Dziki was big at the net with four kills.

BEL AIR blanks HUSKIES

Host Bel Air defeated Patterson Mill (3-7, 4-8) 3-0 Tuesday night in the Bobcats annual "Dig Pink" match, which raises money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.

The Bobcats (5-4, 8-4) won by scores of 25-15, 25-11 and 25-15.

Leading the Bobcats to victory, Amanda Rodriguez had one kill, six aces and 15 assists, while Alex Williams added four kills, four aces and five digs. Celeste Roland also had five kills and an ace.

RAMS sweep COBRAS

Edgewood swept Harford Tech, 3-0, Tuesday afternoon, winning by the scores of 25-14, 25-23 and 25-23.

Alexis Goldston paced the Rams (4-7, 4-8) with six kills. The Cobras are 3-8 and 3-8.

PANTHERS drop MARINERS

Visiting Perryville (9-2, 9-3) needed just three games to beat Joppatowne (3-8, 3-9) 3-0 Tuesday evening. The Panthers winning scores were 25-17, 25-20 and 25-16.

Raven Hughey highlighted the Panthers win with eight service points, two aces, one dig, two kills and one perfect pass. Ange Thompson added nine service points, six kills, three assists and one perfect pass, while Kayla Tome had nine service points, one ace, five digs and two perfect passes.
