Girls volleyball: Fallston stays undefeated

The Fallston Cougars girls volleyball team kept its unbeaten record intact Thursday afternoon with another 3-0 sweep in UCBAC Chesapeake Division action. The latest victim was Havre de Grace, with the Cougars winning by scores of 25-15, 25-9 and 25-6.

Leading the Fallston attack was Rachael Holehouse with 14 kills and three aces, while Abby Claborn had a solid all-around match with 13 assists, 13 digs and six aces. Kristina Dziki added 20 points scored on her serve and Anna Holehouse led the defense with 13 digs.

Leading Havre de Grace were Kaitlyn White with nine digs and two aces, and Marissa Moran with four kills. Rebecca Ashman had three kills. Katie Bubb had three solo blocks and two block assists while younger sister Emilee Bubb added two solo blocks and two block assists.

Mustangs need 5

Visiting C. Milton Wright was taken to five games by Edgewood in a Susquehanna match Thursday. The Mustangs won the opener 25-14, but Edgewood battled back to win games two and three, 26-24 and 25-23. The Mustangs regrouped, however, and won games four and five, 25-17 and 15-5, respectively.

Mustang sophmore Tori Smith led the winners with nine kills and seven digs. Also contributing to the win were Jessica Lucas, five kills; Megan Badovinac, four kills, seven aces; and Kelsey Marzola, 17 assists.

Leading Edgewood were LiLi Grant, six kills, nine digs and four kills; Alexis Goldston, six digs and 15 kills; and Kelsey Swann, 21 assists.

Panthers top Hawks

Host Perryville also needed five games to put away North Harford, 3-2, in another Susquehanna match Wednesday evening. The Panthers winning scores were 25-22, 17-25, 25- 20, 19-25 and 15-13.

Highlighting the North Harford efforts were Maggie Whittington, six aces; Emily Cunningham, four aces and 18 kills; Morgan Knox, two aces and six kills; and Kristen Eyler, three aces and two kills.

Samantha Kreiner paced the Perryville efforts with 20 service points, three aces, five kills, 17 digs, one assist and five perfect passes. Ange Thompson added 14 service points, three aces, six kills, one blocks and seven assists, while April Polyanski had 12 kills.

Eagles drop Cobras

Harford Tech dropped its Susquehanna match with visiting Aberdeen, 3-1, Wednesday. The Cobras won the first game 25-11, but the Eagles rolled to three straight after that. The scores were 25-11, 25-22 and 31-29.

Highlights for the Cobras included outstanding serves by Brittany Horseman and Casey Pilar, two blocks by Alyssa Hockaday, two kills for Brittany Chavis and one kill for Samantha Clark.

Other score

Joppatowne beat visiting Bo Manor, 3-0, Wednesday in Susquehanna play. The scores were 30-28, 25-18 and 25-18. No further details were available.
