Girls soccer: Bel Air tops Harford Tech in a rain-soaked, overtime thriller, 2-1

Playing on a rain-drenched turf field at Harford Tech Wednesday, the Bel Air Bobcats girls soccer team came through with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Cobras.

Both teams scored in the second half, and Bel Air broke the tie for good with its overtime goal. Bel Air's goals were scored by Brooke Lorber and Jordan Layfield.

Tech's goal was scored when Jamie Hoban knocked in Katie Doleschal's corner kick.

Julie Ransone had a season-best performance with 21 saves for Tech. "[We] played our best game of the season," said Cobras' head coach Matt Berg.

Hawks down Indians

The North Harford Hawks came away from their Tuesday road contest with a shutout victory, defeating the North East Indians 5-0.

North Harford led 2-0 at the half-time whistle.

Alicia Greene and Madison Ferrara each scored once in the opening half.

In the second frame, Alicia Greene was at it again, scoring twice to finish out her hat-trick, while Haley Jones scored North Harford's final goal.

Leading the Hawks in assists was Julia Schrof, who dished out three, while Meghan Root had a pair of assists in the victory.

Eagles winged

Aberdeen lost its Wednesday road engagement with the Rising Sun Tigers, as the Eagles were shut out, 3-0.

The Eagles did not allow a first-half goal, and heading into the half-time break the game was still a 0-0 tie.
