Girls basketball: Aberdeen pummels Bel Air in Wednesday showdown

The Aberdeen girls basketball team improved their record to 5-0 with a win Wednesday night over Bel Air.

In other Wednesday action, Joppatowne knocked off Elkton, 62-41, and Fallston beat Harford Tech, 46-21.

The Eagles clobbered the host-team Bobcats, 74-35.

Brionna Jones led Aberdeen, scoring 35 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and racking up four blocks, all of which were team-best totals. Nia Alleyne had 14 points, 10 assists and one block in the victory, while Kierra Palmer scored 12 points and blocked one shot. Takiara Fowlkes had six rebounds and four assists for Aberdeen, while teammate Nazje Norton grabbed five boards.

Caela Tindilia was Bel Air's top scorer with 12 points, while Brooke Lorber contributed seven points. Connor Hanley had six points in the loss.

Joppa over Elkton

Joppatowne won its Wednesday road engagement with Elkton, topping the host-team Golden Elks, 62-41.

Lakiah Huff had 23 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and was four for five from the three-point line in the victory. Shakara Head posted 22 points, six rebounds and five blocks for Joppatowne, while Te'jha Patton-Hill had an eight-point performance. Joppatowne's TroiQuay Malloy recorded six points and eight assists.

Fallston splits pair

Fallston rebounded Wednesday from the previous night's loss with a 46-21 rout of the host-team Harford Tech Cobras.

Jayme Harmon and Alyssa March scored 10 points apiece to pace the Cougars, while Rachael Holehouse netted nine points in the victory. Fallston's Emily Nosek scored six, while teammate Anna Holehouse had five points.

Harford Tech's leading scorer was Brittany Chavis, who put up 10 points.

Fallston led the game 31-9 heading into the second half.

Playing on the road against Delaware's Padua Academy Tuesday night, the Cougars were handed a 55-36 loss.

The Cougars trailed 26-11 after two quarters of play.

Rachael Holehouse was Fallston's hot hand, scoring a team-high 14 points, while teammate March netted 10.
