The C. Milton Wright Mustangs made it 10 straight division wins without a loss Thursday night, easily beating visiting Havre de Grace, 73-27, in UCBAC Susquehanna (lower) Division action.
Lauren Haggerty scored 13 points to lead three Mustangs (10-0, 14-4) in double digits. Savannah Humphreys and Abby Smucker added 12 points apiece and Humphreys also yanked down seven rebounds.
Havre de Grace slipped to 2-8 and 2-14.
Eagles beat Hawks
Aberdeen (9-0, 18-0) kept its records unblemished Thursday night, beating host North Harford, 79-55, in Chesapeake (upper division) play.
Brionna Jones continued her game-by-game assault on the competition with 24 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks. Jimmia McCluskey added 18 points and eight boards, while Lakeia Hayden had 12 points and three assists. Kierra Palmer and Nia Alleyne each had four assists and Donisha Porter grabbed six rebounds.
Morgan Knox led the Hawks (4-4, 12-6) with a game-high 25 points and Sarah Heaps finished with 15 points.
Huskies have a shot
With an key win Thursday night, the Patterson Mill Huskies maintained their position for a shot at the UCBAC Susquehanna Division girls basketball title. The Huskies (9-1, 12-5), led by four players in double digits, pulled away in the second half against visiting Edgewood and went on to a 63-42 win. The Huskies were leading 32-28 at the half.
Qalea Ismail led the Patterson Mill scoring with 16 points, while Morgan Golec added 14 points. Elizabeth Wilson netted 13 and Sam Herman chipped in with 11.
Edgewood's Jada Hatcher led all scorers with 26 points and Jakia Robinson added six points for the Rams (6-4, 9-9).
Mariners beat Bobcats
Joppatowne tuned up a week early for its showdown with Aberdeen (Thursday, 5:15 p.m. at Joppatowne) by rolling over visiting Bel Air, 84-33, in Chesapeake play Thursday night.
TroiQuay Malloy scored a game-high 21 points to pace the Mariners (8-1, 15-3) and also added 12 assists. Shakara Head contributed 20 points, six rebounds and two steals. Cierra Tourville added 12 points and Te'jha Patton-Hill scored 11.
Caela Tindilia and Jasmine Mutunga each scored nine points to lead the Bobcats (1-8, 2-16). The Mariners led at the half, 39-14.
Patriots beat Blazers
Playing their third game without leading scorer Emily Soller, the John Carroll Patriots marched onto Notre Dame Prep's home floor Friday night and handed the IAAM defending champions their first home loss in three years, 44-35.
The Patriots entered the game with an unblemished 10-0 conference record while NDP was 10-1 with its only loss coming at the hands of the Patriots back in December.
The game was either team's to win in the first half as the score was knotted at 9-9 after one quarter and tied at 19 at the half. Gradually in the second half, John Carroll took command of the game breaking it open in the start of the fourth quarter with a 10-2 run and a 12-point advantage.
The Patriots made clutch free throws down the stretch and used a stifling defensive effort to guarantee the top seed in the IAAM Red Division. Sophomore Yemaya Johnson led all scorers with 15 points while Miranda Ripken added 13 for the winners.
Patriots win again
Besieged by injuries and worn down after six games in 10 days, John Carroll limped to a 57-46 win over Garrison Forest in an IAAM B Conference contest last Wednesday.
The Patriots were without leading scorer Soller and defensive stopper MacKenzie Reese, but still managed to overcome an inspired Grizzlie team that led after one quarter, 17-15.
The Patriots responded to take control of the game in the third quarter by outscoring Garrison Forest 21-8 to take a 54-33 lead.
Ripken, on a scoring surge since topping the 1,000-point mark, led John Carroll with 19 points while sophomore Rita Watson had her second straight double-double in relief of Soller with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Cougars beat Elks
Fallston (6-2, 11-6) went on the road Thursday evening to beat Elkton, 57-52, in Chesapeake action.
Rachael Holehouse pumped in 18 points to pace the Cougars, who also got 14 points from Alyssa March and nine from Jesse Harmon. The Cougars, who made 17 of 22 free throws, held a 26-23 halftime advantage.
HCS gets win
Harford Christian got back in the win column Thursday at home with a 44-28 victory over Rosedale Baptist.
Sara Karschner scored 11 points in the win, while Cady Farrish had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
