Aberdeen girls suffer first loss in D.C. tourney

The Aberdeen girls basketball team suffered its first loss of the 2012-13 season on Thursday night at the Title IX National Invitational Tournament in Washington, D.C.

The Eagles were topped, 49-41, by the Hoover High squad of Alabama.

Kierra Palmer scored 14 points to pace the Eagles, while Brionna Jones had 13 points in the loss. Jimmia McCluskey posted six points for Aberdeen.

The Eagles trailed, 30-20, at halftime.

Patterson Mill loses Brown final

Playing in the Orange Division title game at Fallston's Vernon Brown Memorial Girls Basketball Tournament on Thursday night, the Patterson Mill Huskies were edged out, 51-46, by the W.T. Woodson squad of Virginia.

Morgan Golec led the Huskies in scoring with a 27-point effort.

Fallston topped

The host Fallston Cougars suffered a 62-23 loss to South River on Thursday night in the Orange Division consolation game of the Vernon Brown Memorial Tournament.

At halftime, the Cougars trailed, 36-8.

Sam Gasior led the Cougars with a five-point effort, while teammates Megan Shock, Megan Compton and Lindsay Summers all scored four points in the loss.

Edgewood wins consolation game

The Edgewood Rams beat Joppatowne, 57-37, on Thursday night in the White Division consolation game the Vernon Brown Memorial Tournament.

Shania Stamper led Edgewood in scoring with 20 points.

Bel Air beaten in final

Playing in the White Division title game at Fallston's Vernon Brown Memorial Tournament on Thursday, the Bel Air Bobcats suffered a 54-36 loss to the Perry Hall Gators.
