The former Funkhouser Quarry was sold at a Baltimore auction for $170,000 on Tuesday, just $10,000 more than the site's assessed value.
Jack Billig, of A.J. Billig and Co., said the 124.7-acre property in Delta, Pa., was sold, but would not disclose the buyer.
The site was one of the last active quarries in the slate and rock industry along the Mason-Dixon Line, and was formerly owned by Slateridge Limited Partnership.
Ruth Ann Robinson, curator of The Old Line Museum in Delta, said the quarry, which dates to the 1840s, was originally thought to be worth millions.
