Cougars clinch fifth upper division field hockey crown with Friday victory

The Fallston Cougars took back the Chesapeake (upper) Division field hockey throne on Friday night with a 3-0 shutout victory over the visiting Bo Manor Eagles.

The win earned the Cougars, who were narrowly beaten by Patterson Mill in last year's upper-division race, their fifth Chesapeake crown.

Leading the way for the Cougars was Danielle McDiarmid, who scored once and dished out assists on Fallston's two other goals, which were scored by Jordan Wagner and Giselle Leoni.

Fallston will move on to play either Perryville or Rising Sun in Thursday's UCBAC championship game, which will be playing in Edgewood at 6 p.m.

In their most recent matchup, the Cougars were beaten 1-0 in sudden-death by the visiting Bryn Mawr squad on Monday.

Huskies knock off Pats

The Patterson Mill Huskies earned a cross-town victory on Monday, dropping the host-team John Carroll Patriots 3-0.

Scoring was evenly spread for the Huskies, with Emily Keesling, Katie Meek and Lauren West each putting away one goal.

Linnea Gonzalez handed out Patterson Mill's lone assist.

In goal for Patterson Mill, Maddie Hedrick had four saves.

Tech tops Tome, Havre de Grace

Harford Tech won big on Monday, as the Cobras beat the host-team Tome School squad 7-0.

Raquel Hockaday had two goals and one assist in the win, while teammate Lyndsey Endlich posted one goal and one assist. Kayla Lassiter, Katie Perzynski, Tyler Bethke and Apple Ignacio all scored once for Harford Tech, while Brushay Johnson-Lee and Jordy Testerman each had a pair of assists. Morgan Workman notched one assist for the Cobras.

At halftime, the Cobras led 3-0.

The Cobras beat Havre de Grace, 8-1, on Friday night.

Endlich scored a hat trick, while Ignacio, Testerman, Lassiter, Cat Roxas and Caroline Haganeach scored one goal. Saihara George had two assists. Workman, Hockaday, Bethke and Marisa Braungart each had an assist.

The Cobras led, 3-0, at halftime.

Rams win in overtime

The Edgewood Rams overcame a one-goal, halftime deficit on Monday to beat the visiting Aberdeen Eagles 2-1 in overtime.

Megan Lutrey scored the Eagles' lone goal in the first half.

Mariah Criss and Morgan Williams each had one goal for the Rams, while Kara Andrews had Edgewood's only assist.

Monica Attia posted six saves in the Edgewood goal, while Aberdeen keeper Abigail Harrison had four saves.

Mustangs split two

The C. Milton Wright Mustangs lost 4-1 on penalty strokes in Monday's home matchup with the Dulaney Lions.

After two halves of regulation and two sudden-death overtime periods, the score was still 0-0.

On Friday, the Mustangs went on the road to Pylesville and earned an upper division victory, beating the North Harford Hawks, 3-0.

Charlotte Lanphear, Katie Gallagher and Emily Jachelski each scored. Sabrina Rhodes had two saves for the Mustangs. Splitting time defending the North Harford goal, Abby Phillips had two saves and Amanda Carter had three.

Bel Air over North East

Up just 1-0 at the half, the Bel Air Bobcats exploded for four second-half goals and beat the visiting North East Indians, 5-0.

Taylor Burrier scored twice. Becca Clifton, Emily Gryglewski and Paige Kerr each had a goal. Tori Gryglewski and Clifton each had an assist.

Megan Mingioni had 10 saves for Bel Air.
