North Harford wins in Monday field hockey action

The North Harford Hawks took one more day off their UCBAC Chesapeake Division schedule Monday to host and beat North East, 3-0.

Becca Rinaca tallied two goals to lead the Hawks (3-2) and Maddy Dolinar added one goal.


Dolinar also had an assist, as did Katie Owens and Kara Parks.

North Harford played two goalies, with Abby Phillips and Amanda Carter each making one save.

North East keeper Morgan Pyle made four saves.

The Hawks led 2-0 at the half.

Huskies lose to Bulls

Patterson Mill (2-3-1) also took another day off league play with a road loss at Hereford on Monday. The Huskies were beaten, 4-2, despite leading 2-1 at half.

Mariel Castronova scored for Patterson Mill, assisted by Linnea Gonzales and Gonzales scored the other goal unassisted.

Tome blanks Tech


Harford Tech hosted Tome in a non-league game Monday and lost, 3-0. The Cobras (2-4-1) trailed 1-0 at the half.

Tech had eight corners to Tome's three, but no goals.

Tech goalie Hannah Synder had 10 saves in goal, allowing one goal. Kenady Schwinn also played in goal, making two saves and allowing two goals.

Huskies beat Bobcats

Patterson Mill and Bel Air highlighted Friday's full schedule of field hockey with Patterson Mill knocking off visiting Bel Air, 4-1, in UCBAC Chesapeake Division action.

Mariel Castronova scored twice for the Huskies, who also got single goals from Julie Sibbesen and Maria Mazariegos. Linnea Gonzales and Castronova were each credited with two assists.


Rebecca Clifton scored Bel Air's (0-2, 3-3) lone goal, assisted by Tory Gryglewski.

Maddie Hedrick had seven saves in goal for Patterson Mill and Meghan Mingioni had 11 saves for the Bobcats.

Cougars best Hawks in OT

Fallston needed extra time to get past visiting North Harford, 2-1, in Chesapeake play Friday.

After a scoreless first half, Bailey Graf got the Cougars (2-0, 4-2) on the board with an assist from Jenna Caldwell.

Becca Rinaca tallied the North Harford goal with assist from Kara Parks.

Marisa Perfetti put the Cougars in the win column with an assist by Lindsay Summers in OT.

Cougars goalie Sarah DiMaggio had a huge day, making 32 saves, while Hawks keeper Abby Phillips made four saves.

Mustangs blank Tigers

C. Milton Wright pushed its record to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in Chesapeake play after a 5-0 win over visiting Rising Sun Friday. Sophomore midfielder Sabrina Rhodes led the attack with three goals, including a penalty stroke during the second half. Fellow sophomores Emily Brandt and Madie Adams each contributed a goal. Assists were credited to Rhodes, Brandt, junior Maggie Gallagher and senior Brooke Williams.

C. Milton Wright recorded its fourth shutout of the season as goalies sophomore Sydney Rhodes and junior Nicole Leighty split duty in the cage.

Eagles, Cobras tie

Aberdeen (0-1-1, 1-3-1) and visiting Harford Tech played to a 1-1 tie after regulation, overtime and strokes in Susquehanna play Friday. Both teams scored a goal in strokes.

Aberdeen's goal was scored by Caroline Huang and Tech's goal was scored by Brittany Kapustensky.

Rams edge Warriors

Edgewood slid past visiting Havre de Grace, 1-0, Friday in Susquehanna play. Morgan Williams scored the game's only goal unassisted. Edgewood (1-1, 3-2) keeper Lissette Yeargain had no saves and Havre de Grace (0-2, 0-5) goalie Taylor Smith had 10 saves.

Panthers beat Mariners

Joppatowne was beaten at Perryville, 2-0, in Susquehanna play Friday. Hannah Wein and Lydia Hill tallied Perryville (3-0, 4-2) goals with Brooke Hornberger adding one assist.

Panthers goalie Britany Gibson made two saves and Joppatowne (1-1, 4-2) keeper April Kinyua had 15 saves.
