Forest Hill man, 91, died due to burns sustained in last week's fire

Fire officials are still investigating the blaze that killed a 91-year-old man last week in Forest Hill.

Richard F. Weisheit, 91, died as a result of smoke inhalation and thermal burn injuries sustained during the fire inside his home in the 1800 block of Creston Drive in the Forest Hill area, according to a release from the State Fire Marshal's office.

Around 9:50 a.m., firefighters from Harford and Baltimore counties responded to the fire and controlled it an hour.

The Harford County Technical Rescue Team performed shoring activities on the walls during the investigation, which is ongoing. Deputy fire marshals believe the fire started in the basement kitchen of the two story home and estimate the fire caused about $350,000 in damages.

Investigators found no evidence of working smoke alarms.

The death is not believed to be suspicious, according to Deputy State Fire Marshal Bruce Bouch.
