One man is dead after driving his car off the road and into a tree during the early hours of Wednesday morning in northern Harford County.
Around 1:25 a.m. Wednesday, James Robert Rogers III, 22, of Darlington, was driving a 2008 Volkswagen Passat south on Route 136 near Trappe Road near Darlington when the car crossed the centerline, according to a release from Maryland State Police with the Bel Air Barrack.
The car drove across the lane for northbound traffic, hit a guardrail, continued up an embankment into a tree and finally stopped in the lane for southbound traffic, according to state police.
Rogers received medical assistance minutes after the crash and was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for treatment.
Rogers did not revive, and medical personnel at the hospital pronounced him dead, according to state police.
No one else was in the car at the time of the crash. The road was closed for about three hours while troopers investigated the accident.
It was unclear Wednesday afternoon whether alcohol or illegal substances could have been factors in the crash, according to state police, who said the accident remains under investigation.
