Harford office building project subject of rare fast track plans review

In a rare move, Harford County is doing a fast track plans review this week of a new office building planned near Millennium Drive and Bata Boulevard in Belcamp.

Plans for the building are on the county's Development Advisory Committee meeting agenda for this Wednesday, Aug. 3.

The meeting will be in the second floor conference room of the county office building at 220 S. Main St. in Bel Air, beginning at 9 a.m. It is open to the public.

The site is in the Water's Edge Corporate Campus, developed by Clark Turner in partnership with Manekin LLC.

The site was originally intended to house a restaurant and additional office space, Harford Director of Planning and Zoning Pete Gutwald said last week. Those plans are being revised to make the 30,000-square-foot project a two-story office/conference center, Gutwald said.

Harford County Director of Economic Development Jim Richardson said the project at Water's Edge "is eligible for Enterprise Zone real property tax credits." However, the exact amount of the tax credit "must be determined by State Department of Assessments after the project is completed, he explained.

Clark Turner representatives did not return calls or e-mails.
