Improvements being made to key Fallston roads, intersections

Improvements continue to be made to several roads in Fallston, Joe Woods, the Harford County Councilman representing that area, said at a meeting of the Fallston Community Council Tuesday.

Woods said he "felt good about" several roads on which state agencies made traffic improvements.

They include the intersection of Routes 1 and 152, and the intersections of Route 1 and Harford Road, which was supposed to be widened.

He also said Carrs Mill Road and Route 152 is partly improved, but no action has been taken on Connolly Road and Route 152, where Woods also would like to see better traffic alignment.

Woods said he would like to see lines changed at Hess Road and Route 152 to better accommodate traffic, and also "get help" at Route 1 and Reckord Road.

Maryland State Police have been stepping up traffic enforcement in that area, he noted.

Various law enforcement agencies have also been doing more traffic enforcement on Route 22 by the Bel Air fire station.

Dave Williams, head of the community council, also said the culvert replacement on Carrs Mill Road across Bear Cabin Branch is still in the planning stage; however, work completed to date includes the removal of several rock outcroppings along the road that should help with drainage,

He also talked about the fatal motorcycle crash on Carrs Mill in late November, and said neighbors suggested better illumination is needed in the area because it tends to be especially dark at night.
