A 27-year-old Abingdon man was charged with first- and second-degree assault after a fight with his mother and stepfather.
Brad Charles Kinsel, of the 2900 block of Ruskin Court, was charged on Nov. 23 with assault after a fight in which he allegedly held a knife up to his stepfather's throat and said, "I'm not afraid to slit your throat," according to charging documents.
Harford County sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Nov. 23 around 1:42 p.m., where Kinsel's mother said they had gotten into an argument and Kinsel knocked over a table and broke a cabinet, according to charging documents. Later on that day, deputies responded again, around 2:51 p.m., to another domestic disturbance and this time, Kinsel had been arguing with his stepfather before allegedly holding a kitchen knife up to the man's throat and running away.
Neither his stepfather or Kinsel's mother showed signs of injury, according to charging documents.
Kinsel appeared before Harford District Court Judge Victor Butanis on Nov. 28, where Public Defender Timothy Bar requested a reduction in the bail amount. Bar also said Kinsel's stepfather said he could come back to the residence.
Assistant State's Attorney Donald Walter asked for an increase in the bail amount but Butanis kept it as set at $75,000.
Kinsel was released from the Harford County Detention Center after making bail Tuesday morning.
