Lenier Tucker led the field in a five-team cross-country meet at Patterson Mill Tuesday, for his second big performance in a week.
The Edgewood junior ran 17:34 over the Huskies' newly revised 5K course, leading teammate Michael Dzambasow by 19 seconds.
Three days earlier, Tucker finished second among 137 runners in the Gunpowder Invitational, touring the Jerusalem Mill course in 16:49.
The Rams finished third as a team Tuesday behind Fallston and Patterson Mill despite the one-two finish.
Sam Caretti, of Patterson Mill, placed third in 17:59. Fallston took the next five places to secure the win with 30 points. Frank Abbate, 18:12; Neil Thompson, 18:13; Noah Kudla, 18:18; Sam Burgess, 19:31; and Austin Braerman, 19:54, were the Cougars' top five.
Steven Hody, 20:03, and Justin Snyder, 20:10, also finished in the top 10 to give the Huskies second place. Bel Air was fourth.
Stephanie McCartney and Emma Mattson ran far ahead of the field in the girls' race, but their Patterson Mill team finished second behind Fallston. McCartney won in 20:37, and Mattson ran 21:25 in second.
Fallston took seven of the next eight places to win with 25 points. Grace Lekites ran 22:27; Katie Lazzeri, 23:02; Emily Nosek, 23:08; Katie Mozingo, 23:26; Leann Bedsaul, 23:38; Fiona Puglese, 23:45; and Kathryn Milwicz, 23:49. Megan Caudill, of Bel Air placed, ninth in 23:45 to lead Bel Air to third place.
Hawks second in Gunpowder Invitational
Sophomore Megan Tidey led North Harford's girls to a runner-up finish among 16 teams in the Gunpowder Cross-Country Invitational Saturday at Jerusalem Mill.
Tidey placed fifth in the field of 110 runners in 20:34. Five Hawk scorers finished in the top 30 to score 77 points and finish just 1 point behind Glenelg.
Annie Scott was 13th in 21:19; Regan Davis, 14th in 21:26; Ellen Shephard, 22nd in 21:53; and Sarah Cullum, 29th in 22:26. The Hawks' No. 6 and No. 7 runners also finished in the top 50. Laura Drapinski was 36th in 22:41, and Laura Eller, 50th in 23:13.
Ellie Gonzalez, of The Catholic High School in Baltimore, won the girls race in 18:29. The sophomore finished 49 seconds ahead of runner-up Emily Ruppel, of Loch Raven.
Vince Ciattei, a Perry Hall junior, won the boys race, clocking 16:30 to win by 19 seconds over runner-up Lenier Tucker.
Other Harford runners in the top 50 were Frank Abbate, Fallston, 13th in 17:22; Nick Fransham, North Harford, 14th, 17:22; Michael Dzambasow, 23rd, 17:48; Neil Thompson, Fallston, 24th, 17:50; Noah Kudla, Fallston, 36th, 18:15; Patrick O'Leary, North Harford, 37th, 18:20; and David Roloff, North Harford, 47th, 18:49.
