The newly-renovated Hays-Heighe House at Harford Community College was the site for a "Fun With American Girls" youth enrichment camp during the second week of August.

During this week-long summer camp, girls ages 8 to 12 combined learning about American history with a variety of cultural projects. They experienced the stories and characters behind the American Girls dolls, making crafts, toys, decorations, recipes, and other fun activities similar to those done by Kersten, Josephina, Addy and other dolls in the series.

"It was a wonderful use of the historic setting that the Hays-Heighe House makes possible," reflected Library Director Carol Allen. "The House lends itself to many possible functions and activities, all related to its mission, which is to showcase Harford County's social and cultural history through exhibits and programming."

The Hays-Heighe House was constructed in 1808 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It serves the college community by hosting meetings, workshops, and special events, in addition to serving as a classroom for a variety of credit and noncredit courses.

The House is also available for off-campus organizations and individuals to rent on a fee basis.
