SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY: Rye McKenzie of Bel Air, was awarded an assistantship at Susquehanna University for the 2013–14 academic year. Assistantships are competitive, merit-based scholarships. Recipients gain professional work experience, which increases their skills and responsibility in a specific field of interest, by working closely with a faculty or administrative staff member throughout their years at Susquehanna.

ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY: The following local students have enrolled at Alvernia University, beginning this fall semester: Courtney Wilson, of Bel Air, a nursing major who graduated from John Carroll School, and Ashley Beyer, of Churchville, a communication major who graduated from John Carroll School.

CLEMSON UNIVERSITY: Local residents have enrolled at Clemson University for the fall semester: Kayleigh Morgan Allender of Bel Air is majoring in biological sciences; Emily A. Clarke of Bel Air is majoring in pre-business; and Benjamin E. Sanderson of Churchville is majoring in general engineering; They join more than 3,200 freshmen at Clemson this semester.

WIDENER UNIVERSITY: Sierra Offutt of Fallston, who is studying creative writing/psychology at Widener University, is one of 12 undergraduate students chosen to participate in the highly selective Oskin Leaders Program. Students in the program receive leadership training and one-on-one coaching that guides them through identifying and developing a leadership project. The program is administered by the Oskin Leadership Institute at Widener.
