IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY: Mark Holloway of Darlington, studying agricultural systems technology, was one of the more than 6,250 Iowa State University undergraduates recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the 2013 spring semester dean's list. Students named to the dean's list must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work.

FROSTBURG STATE UNIVERSITY: At the 142nd commencement ceremonies at Frostburg State University in May, Kimberly McDaniel of Joppa earned a master of education in education, general; Kristine Thurlow of Edgewood earned a master of arts in teaching; Tiffany Cupp of Jarrettsville earned a bachelor of science in early childhood/elementary education; Scott Kinlein of Joppa earned a bachelor of science in biology; Alexandra Rowles of Forest Hill earned a bachelor of science in elementary education; and John Sikalis of Joppa earned a bachelor of science in accounting.


IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY: Joy Lawrence, Class of 2016 of Bel Air and Paige Eyler, Class of 2014 of Jarrettsville, were among the Immaculata University students named to the spring 2013 dean's list. To attain dean's list status, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 on a scale of 4.0.

NORTHERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY: Ellen DiGiacinto, White Hall qualified for the dean's list at Northern Michigan University with a grade point average of 3.25 to 3.99.


GETTYSBURG COLLEGE: Alexandra Dunn of Joppa, Sarah Kanely of Joppa and Gina Lucchese of Bel Air have been named to the dean's honor list at Gettysburg College for outstanding academic achievement in the spring 2013 semester.

Shannon Kelley of Joppa and Lauren Satterfield of Joppa were among Gettysburg students with a quality point average in the range of 3.300 to 3.599 for a semester's work, which earned them a place on the Deans' Commendation List.

UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE: On a morning marked by wispy clouds in a blue sky, more than 21,000 people - graduates and their families and friends - braved gale force winds to celebrate the University of Delaware's 164th Commencement, held Saturday, May 25, at Delaware Stadium. Among those graduated were Julie Angelini, of Havre de Grace; Rachel Borkoski, of Havre de Grace; Alexandra Brown, of Bel Air; Leah Hall, of Jarrettsville; Charles Hergesheimer, of Bel Air; Patrick Hickey, of Bel Air; Brian Kerdasha, of Fallston; Melanie Kirkpatrick, of Bel Air; Catherine Kuklinski, of Bel Air; Sara Laskowski, of Aberdeen; Heather Miller, of Jarrettsville; Michelle Murray, of Aberdeen; Cassandra Simons, of Bel Air; and Kelsey Woolcott, of Bel Air.

THE COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY: Courtnee Wright, a senior psychology major from Bel Air, was named to the dean's list at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) for the spring 2013 semester. To achieve this honor, a student must carry 12 or more credits that semester and have a 3.5 grade point average or above.

ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY: Brandi Loga, of Bel Air, served as a volunteer for the free, week-long Carpenter Science Institute camp this summer at Alvernia University. Loga is a biology major at Alvernia University.
