3-year-old left behind garners national attention

In the weeks since parents left a 3-year-old girl at a local restaurant, several national news media outlets continue to cover the story.

The girl, named Harmony, was accidentally left behind at the Chuck E. Cheese in Bel Air on March 4, but she was reunited with her parents by midnight that evening, after the Harford County Sheriff's Office used local media to release her picture and information.

It was discovered that the girls' parents had thought she was going home with other family members when they left Chuck E. Cheese earlier in the day. Harmony approached an employee at approximately 8 p.m. that day.

Since the story made Harford County media, Monica Worrell, spokesperson the Harford County Sheriff's Office, said she has received phone calls from several news stations and shows throughout the country, including Anderson Cooper, MSNBC, "Inside Edition" and the "Dr. Phil Show." She continues to share with them the same information she initially released to local websites and newspapers, Worrell said.

The sheriff's office has not pushed the story to these outlets, Worrell emphasized, but they have reached out to the sheriff's office.

"It's garnered national attention because of the uniqueness of the situation," she said, "and, if it meant that a 3-year-old was reunited with her parents, then we utilized the right tool the evening that we did."
