Baltimore man held without bail in Harford on child pornography charges

A 21-year-old Baltimore man is being held without bail in Harford County, after being charged with 13 counts of child pornography, soliciting a subject.

This is not the first time Marcus Curtis Clark, who has been living at the Baltimore Rescue Mission, at 4 N. Central Avenue in the city, has been charged with a sexual offense, according to prosecutors.

In 2009, according to Assistant Harford County State's Attorney Diane Adkins-Tobin, Clark was given probation before judgment for five counts of distribution of child pornography.

In Clark's bail hearing on his latest charges in Harford County District Court in Bel Air Friday, Adkins-Tobin asked Judge Victor Butanis to hold Clark without bail, while Assistant Public Defender Marcus Jenkins requested "reasonable bail."

While on probation in the 2009 pornography case, Adkins-Tobin said, Clark pleaded guilty in July 2010 to a Baltimore City charge of distributing controlled dangerous substances.

It was after being released in May 2011, she added, that Clark met a 16-year-old girl from whom he allegedly solicited pornographic cell phone pictures. Upon receiving them, Clark allegedly threatened to post the pictures online if the girl did not send more, which, Adkins-Tobin said, the girl did "under duress."

Given the circumstances and Clark's prior criminal history, Adkins-Tobin called him a "serious threat."

Butanis agreed and ordered Clark held without bail at the Harford County Detention Center.

Prior to his arrest, Clark lived at the Baltimore Rescue Mission for the past two months, according to Jenkins, the public defender. Clark also received his GED from the State of Maryland and has one child, Jenkins said.
