An Edgewood man was sentenced Tuesday to 55 years in prison for the 2009 kidnapping and carjacking of a Pylesville woman.
Judge Stephen Waldron sentenced Joshua Prince Freeman, 22, of the 400 block of Liberty Court in Edgewood, Tuesday in Harford County Circuit Court.
Freeman was convicted in April of kidnapping and carjacking in connection with the 2009 crime.
Freeman and at least one accomplice lured the woman to the Harford Square neighborhood in Edgewood, where they carjacked and kidnapped her, hit her several times and called her parents demanding a ransom, according to a release from the Harford County State's Attorney's office.
The woman was ultimately thrown out of the car while it was still moving and one of Freeman's accomplices burned the car to destroy evidence, according to the state's attorney's office.
The victim and her mother both gave statements at sentencing explaining the impact the crime has had on them.
Joey Lamar Bullard, one of Freeman's accomplices, was convicted in November 2010 of armed carjacking and was sentenced in May to serve 30 years in prison.
Roberta Antonacci, 19, of the 300 block of Red Haven Court in Joppa, is expected to stand trial in August in connection with the case.
Charges against a fourth suspect, Lamont Harrison Jr., were dismissed by the state.
