An Edgewood man crashed his car into a slow-moving freight train going through the middle Havre de Grace early Friday morning, Havre de Grace police said.
The 37-year-old man, who was not identified, was driving a 2009 Dodge van on Revolution Street near Lewis Lane at about 12:02 a.m., Havre de Grace Police Department spokesman Officer Jeff Gilpin said.
"Apparently the operator didn't see the train in the middle of the road and hit the train," Gilpin said.
The driver was taken to Harford Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. His van was not seriously damaged, Gilpin said.
The train was headed to the J.M. Huber plant on Revolution Street, he said.
The tracks at Revolution and Lewis Lane have seen other car-train collisions in the past.
Gilpin said the last one was three years ago and was very similar to this incident.
The single track Norfolk Southern Railroad branch crosses Revolution at a sharp angle just east of Lewis Lane.
