Robert McMillan, a five-year employee with the Harford County Department of Public Works, Division of Water and Sewer, has been named Employee of the Month for July.

He was nominated by his crew chief from the Division of Water and Sewer, Tim Smith. McMillan recently went above and beyond what was called for to return money and paperwork left behind by a customer of the 7-Eleven where he and Smith had stopped for lunch. The crew chief pointed out paperwork on the counter thinking it belonged to McMillan, not wanting him to forget it. When they returned to their vehicle, McMillan noticed it was not his paperwork or money. At first he thought he could re-deposit the money in the ATM for the person who lost it, but instead found the information needed to call up the owner to set up a time to meet and return the lost property.

In the nomination, Smith said, "I would like to take this opportunity to compliment Rob McMillan for both his honesty and integrity. In this day and age where greed often overrides morals, it is gratifying to know that Harford County employees still maintain a high standard of conduct."

Commenting on McMillan's selection as Employee of the Month for July, County Executive David R. Craig said in a press release: "Robert's actions exemplify a standard of excellence, integrity and distinguished service. Robert has a great career ahead of him with Harford County Government and we congratulate him on receiving this special recognition."
