Highview Memorial Gardens Breaks Ground for New Mausoleum

Highview Memorial Gardens announced the construction of a new chapel mausoleum on the grounds of the family-owned cemetery to provide friends and neighbors with additional memorial options. There was a groundbreaking ceremony on Dec. 8.

Sally Imber, of Highview Memorial Gardens, described the new chapel mausoleum as a continuation of their vision to serve the community.

"In 1976, my father, Ed Hess, and uncle, Dale Hess, took a vision for the family land, a vision that included beautiful vistas and rolling hills, and a place to honor the memories of Harford County's residents," Imber stated during a brief ceremony Thursday. "The new chapel mausoleum, named St. Clair, will have beautiful marble and granite, exposed beams and windows to bring the outside in. It will truly be a beautiful place to celebrate fond memories of loved ones."

Approximately 60 guests attended the groundbreaking event including Del. Wayne Norman, of District 35A for Harford County; Harford County Councilman Joseph M. Woods, of District B; Harford County Councilman Chad Shrodes, of District D, as well as Highview Memorial Gardens leadership, business associates and friends. The event began with remarks from Imber, a member of the Hess family, which owns and operates Highview Memorial Gardens, followed by remarks by Al Starky, of Ingram Construction, responsible for the construction of the new chapel mausoleum. Norman and Woods also made remarks, saluting Highview Memorial Gardens for their strength as a local, Harford County business.

Highview Memorial Gardens has deep roots in the community. The construction of their new chapel mausoleum provides community members with alternative options to burial and memorial services for loved ones. The new mausoleum will feature an inspiring chapel, allowing family members to pay tribute year-round.
