Body Recovered from Bush River

The body of a man was recovered from the Bush River Monday morning, but Army officials had not released his name as of Tuesday.

A man boating on the Bush River contacted emergency personnel Saturday after his brother fell into the water and disappeared, according to George Mercer, Chief of Public Affairs with Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Crews searched for the man until dark and resumed the search on Sunday.

"Monday morning we found a body," Mercer said. "I do not know if that man has been identified as the missing body."

The body was recovered around 6:40 a.m. in water under Aberdeen Proving Ground jurisdiction.

Mercer explained that when a death takes place without medical personnel supervising, even if foul play is not suspected, the Army's criminal investigation command investigates.

"We're not releasing the name at this point," Chris Grey, spokesperson for Army criminal investigations, said Tuesday.
