Havre de Grace headed toward perfect boys volleyball season

In the penultimate match of their 2011 regular season, the Havre de Grace boys volleyball team kept on track toward a perfect record, as the Warriors defeated the visiting North Harford Hawks 3-0 on Monday afternoon.

The Warriors won the match with scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-13. David Beck was Havre de Grace's driving force, notching 24 kills, nine digs and five aces. Steve Ashman put up eight kills, one block and a team-best 11 digs in the victory, while fellow Warrior Tony Cofrancesco had six digs, three kills and one block. Tyler Cook led the Warriors in assists with 31, while also notching one block, one dig and two aces. Sebastian Pruitt had three kills, two aces, two blocks and one dig for the Warriors, while teammate Sean Darney put up three digs and one kill.

Mustangs shut down Huskies

Playing at home Monday in their Senior Night match, the C. Milton Wright boys topped the visiting Patterson Mill Huskies in three straight games to take a match victory in varsity volleyball action.

The hosts defeated their guests, 25-22, in the first contest, but then went on to take the next two by the relatively safe margins of 25-15 and 25-8.

CMW's Justin Pezella helped the winning cause, putting up 14 service points, 21 assists, two aces, nine perfect passes, four digs and one kill.

Ryan Walsh had five kills, six aces, 10 assists, 16 perfect passes, 11 service points, two digs and one block in the victory, while teammate Mike Krouse registered four service points, two blocks, one kill, one perfect pass and one dig.
