Bel Air tops North Harford, 3-2, in boys volleyball

In a boys volleyball match that lasted nearly two hours on Wednesday night, the host-team Bel Air Bobcats outlasted the visiting North Harford Hawks to take a 3-2 overall victory.

The Bobcats took the first game 25-20, but North Harford rebounded to take the second matchup 25-22. Bel Air answered their guests with a 25-22 victory, but the Hawks came back again, winning the fourth contest 25-21. In the fifth and deciding game, Bel Air sealed up the match with a 15-11 defeat of North Harford.

Tyler Norcross was Bel Air's biggest asset in the victory, stuffing down 16 kills, serving up two aces and registering one block. Aaron Farley helped out the winning cause with eight kills, one block and a pair of assists. James Scherba had two aces, eight kills and one block for the Bobcats, while Matt Kenner put up six kills and 1-1/2 blocks. Bel Air's Kyle Johnson posted a match-best 34 assists, while scratching out five kills, one block and one ace.

Austin Russell and Alden Jones led North Harford with 13 kill apiece. Josh Weiman had eight kills in the loss, while Jones served up three aces. Tyler Dempskiand and Taylor Wolf led North Harford with 12 assists each.
