Boys soccer: Six teams advance to regional semifinals

The quarterfinal round of the region boys soccer playoffs was a good one for Harford County teams as six advanced to the semifinal round in their respective regions.

In Class 3A North, Bel Air, Aberdeen and North Harford all won.

The Bel Air Bobcats went to overtime to beat host Towson 2-1. Carson Kalama scored the winning goal on an assist from Alex Miller to win the game. Kalama's head ball goal with one minute left in regulation forced the overtime. Mike Gemma picked up the assist.

Towson scored first, just three minutes into the game on a missed clear by the Bobcats defense.

Christian Vito was in goal and had five saves for the winners.

HAWKS blank Indians

North Harford also traveled into Baltimore County and won, shutting out Franklin, 1-0, on a first half goal from Kyle Six off an assist from Alec Mouring.

Goalies Austin Rice (three saves) and Robert Giackos (four saves) combined on the shutout.

North Harford will play at Bel Air on Friday at time to be determined.

EAGLES take out Patterson

Aberdeen knocked out the region's top seed with a 3-2 win at Patterson.

Justin Howard, Tyler Green and Kevin Shumaker tallied goals for the Eagles, who trailed 2-1 at the half. Green, Howard and Hunter Haag had assists.

Aberdeen goalies Anthony Hale and Thomas Moore each made two saves.

The Eagles will play at Eastern Tech or Hereford on Friday.

HUSKIES spear Indians

Host Patterson Mill scored a pair of goals in each half to beat North East, 4-0, in 2A East, District VII semifinal play.

Goal scorers were Tony Roney, Alex Embres, Brandon Ortiz and Nick Roney. Aaron Childs had two assists and Ian Bollinger and Patrick Springer had one each. Goalie Brady Morton made five saves to record the shutout.

COUGARS beat COBRAS

Also in 2A East, District VII semifinal play, host Fallston beat Harford Tech, 3-1. Fallston led 2-0 at the half on goals by David Starleper and James Glezen. Chris Lievendag and Zach Martin, respectively, had the assists.

Tech's lone goal was scored unassisted by Josh North and Fallston added a Tyler Andrus goal with assist coming from Lievendag.

Fallston goalie Robbie Kansler made one save and Tech keeper Dan Ashburn had 18.

The Cougars and Huskies are scheduled to play Thursday at Fallston.

WARRIORS move on

Havre de Grace, the 1A North top seed, moved on with a 4-1 win over visiting Carver A&T.

Bobby Smith, assisted by Farhan Bachu, scored the Warriors first half goal. Bachu added a goal in the second half, assisted by Connor Haffey, and the two reversed roles on the third Havre de Grace goal as Haffey took a feed from Bachu. Austin Sylvester closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal.

Warriors goalkeeper James Antonoplos had one save. Havre de Grace will host Perryville on Friday night at 7 p.m.
