Bel Air Police Department is getting a new four-wheel drive vehicle. A contract for $29,346.88 to Apple Ford was one of two that Bel Air town commissioners at their meeting Monday night.
The 2013 four-wheel drive Ford Explorer will replace a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, Police Chief Leo Matrangola said, and is paid for in the fiscal year 2012 budget.
A contract for $59,500 was awarded to TRB Specialty Rehabilitation in Gambrills for a portion of their sanitary sewer inflow and infiltration project, starting in the Homestead community. That particular community is an older one, Director of Public Works Randolph Robertson said, and significantly contributes to the sewer system.
Under the contract, TRB Specialty Rehabilitation will video inspect 30 linear feet of the sewer lines and then provide evaluations and recommendations for the town.
Resolutions
Commissioners also approved a resolution for the Maryland Certified Municipal Program which, according to Director of Planning Kevin Small, will allow the town to earn points under the environmental finance program at University of Maryland. These points will help the town earn a sustainability certification, Small added, and the program is supported by the Maryland Municipal League.
The town also received the Harford County Annual Growth Report as required and, according to Small, will be used to help the planning commission look at any future development.
Recognitions
Bel Air commissioners recognized Adam Bedsaul, a town employee with the department of public works. Bel Air High School senior Christina McIntyre was also given the student achievement award.
Upcoming meeting
The next town business meeting is Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in town hall.
