Aberdeen man held on no bail

A 24-year-old Aberdeen resident with three prior convictions is being held without bail for a violation of probation.

Solomon Barnett, of the 700 block of Everist Drive, was denied bond Friday afternoon during his bail review hearing in front of District Court Judge Mimi Cooper.

Barnett violated his probation, stemming from a May 2008 conviction when he was found guilty of theft scheme more than $500; he allegedly failed to pay supervision fees and report to his supervisor, Cooper said. He was sentenced to eight years, with all but three months suspended.

Assistant State's Attorney Diane Adkins-Tobin told the judge that Barnett has 12 prior charges and three convictions for theft and burglary. Charges are also pending in Cecil County for possession of marijuana, she said.

Based on his past record, Cooper decided to hold Barnett without bail.
